Stream of Conscience: Love, Scott

So this wonderful vacation consisting of me not leaving my bed has come to an end. I must start applying myself again, you know- not sleeping all day, being astute, making social interactions, not staying up until 3 and driving around like a crazy man in my pajamas when I can’t sleep, etc.
Today I went to an Ithaca Networking Night. You know the economy is bad, when you’re mingling with people who graduated in 1989 and they start the conversation with “I got laid off last week.” No conversation killer as good as that. All is good though- if I’m lucky some ties on the west coast may come through and I may find myself with a nice job doin’ musicy things.
or maybe I’ll just stay in Ithaca this summer and lay around jobless.
I don’t know. I still feel like I’m in London. But sadly I’m just surrounded by people in sweatpants and Uggs.
You know what I do know:
I miss the 1990’s. I miss turning on the radio and hearing Tori Amos, I miss people being excited about the Smashing Pumpkins. AND I miss when MTV played music videos, and furthermore: I miss music videos being really awesome and not just half nude singers gyrating infront of a camera.
Here are some of my favorite music videos:
Radiohead: No Surprises ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqsyXdj_p_I )
Nothing like drowing to bring out your true emotions.
Fiona Apple: Criminal ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTpvjNn2BUM )
Everytime this came on, I’d have to look over my shoulder with paranoia to make sure my mom wouldn’t come in the room and demand me to turn this sexy little video off. Nothing like Fiona (who scarily looks 14) withering around half naked at a scary houseparty. Is it wrong that this makes me nostalgic?
No Doubt – Don’t Speak ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=welnlg3svTw )
Once there was a band named No Doubt that I was utterly OBSESSED with. Once for fun I acted this music video out. It used to make me cry because it depicts No Doubt breaking up. About 95% of what I just said is true, I won’t tell you what 5% is false.
Alanis Morissette: Ironic ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8v9yUVgrmPY )
Not only is this song amazing, but this video is perfect. God I wish Alanis would quit sucking.
Tori Amos – Winter ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnboUbOGDOM )
Nothing screams 90’s AND emotional female singer songwriter than this music video. Which I still watch when I can’t sleep.
Bjork: Bacholorette
Amazing Concept. Amazing video.
alright. I need to stop, I’m feeling old. I don’t like feeling old.
