Dinosaur Jr. Unearthed!

Last Tuesday we kicked off 2010 in style with a sold out, straight forward rock show. Opener Kurt Vile and his band played some gnarly psych-rock blending in obscure sax and harmonica lines. Everyone was sporting long black hair and letting it flow. Check out the pics below for a rare glimpse of Kurt’s face on stage through the curtain of hair.
Dinosaur Jr. piled amps every which way on the low stage to get to the level of volume that everyone expects. Someone said Castaways sold more earplugs than beer, they’re probably wrong. Either way, D Jr. kicked the **** out of their set. Opening with “Thumb” and “In a Jar” both songs written before I turned 3 probably, they were definitely not here to play just their new stuff. Jamming to the oldies the hardest, “Freak Scene” and “Feel the Pain” were definitely a crowd favorites. Not much for conversation, Mascis was in fine form letting his guitar do the talking.
